Best Swimming Beaches in Sydney
Looking for somewhere to swim rather than surf? This list focuses on beaches with calmer water in our records: harbour coves, netted or enclosed swimming areas and sheltered ocean coves. Many harbour beaches are not patrolled by lifesavers, so each entry shows its patrol status and links to Beachsafe, where you can check today’s conditions and patrol times. Swimming is never required to count a beach. If you do swim, read the signs, check Beachsafe and swim between the red and yellow flags where a patrol is operating.
